How do I know if I am a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

Anyone who is not happy with the shape of his or her nose may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. You may not be happy with the shape of your nose for a number of reasons, usually because of a bump on the bridge of your nose, the tip of your nose may droop or be overly thick, your nose is too large for your face, or your nose may just be crooked or off-center.

How is rhinoplasty surgery performed?

Before Dr. Goldstein begins, he will discuss whether you prefer a local or general anesthesia. Once this has been administered, small incisions will be made inside the nasal cavity and the skin of your nose will be gently moved away from the nasal cartilage and bone of the nose. Then, the cartilage and bone are sculpted to the desired shape, and then skin is replaced and reshaped.

How long does the rhinoplasty procedure take?

The exact time for the rhinoplasty procedure varies depending on the amount of shaping. Generally, the procedure is completed in under an hour and a half. However, if you choose to undergo other procedures in conjunction with rhinoplasty this time could increase substantially.

What will I look like after my nose surgery?

You will have black eyes and your cheeks may be slightly swollen immediately following your rhinoplasty procedure. This discoloration will eventually disappear. The area around your nose may continue to swell for several weeks, but this will minimize over time.

How old do you have to be to have rhinoplasty?

Some patients choose to undergo rhinoplasty at the age of 15. We will require parental consent for patients under the age of 18.
