New Haven Face Lift Surgery FAQs

Serving Patients Throughout Connecticut And Rhode Island

Rhode Island facelift patientHow is the facelift procedure performed?

A facelift is a unique procedure based on the individual. The specifics of your facelift will depend on what method is best for you. For example, the exact placement of the incisions will depend on your facial structure.

Typically, the incisions begin near the temples along the hairline, follow the natural line inside of the ear, curve around the earlobe like glasses, and then meet along the lower scalp. If skin or fat will be removed from your neck, a small incision will be made under the chin. Once these incisions are made, the skin of the face is lifted, the fat is trimmed or suctioned, and underlying muscle is tightened. Finally, the excess skin is pulled up and back, trimmed and stitched into place.

How long does a facelift procedure take?

Again, this will depend on the individual. Typically, a facelift can be completed in less than two hours. However, the amount of work you will require will directly affect the amount of time the operation takes.

How long do the results of the facelift procedure last?

We often say that the results will make you look ten years younger. However, you and your face will continue to age after the procedure.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for a facelift?

The best candidates for a facelift procedure are men or women who are unhappy with their sagging skin, but their skin has some elasticity. The majority of facelift patients are men and women in their forties to sixties.

Can I have more than one facial procedure at the same time?

It is very common for facelift patients to undergo more than one cosmetic surgery procedure at the same time. These procedures may include a facelift, rhinoplasty, a brow lift, a neck lift, or eyelid surgery.

Can I return home the same day as my facelift?

We require our facelift patients to stay overnight for observation. You will also need someone else to pick you up the following day.
