Laser resurfacing

The use of ablative lasers is the best way to rejuvenate the skin of the face and neck. It smooths out the surface to give a more even color as well as lessen fine wrinkles and pitted areas. The process can be accomplished either in one session (which requires about one week of down time) or as a series of light resurfacing sessions (each leaving a mild redness for only one day). Each method has its advantages and offers a choice to the individual. The laser resurfacing works well on hands to eliminate age spots too. Non-ablative lasers have arrived on the scene recently, but they do not give as complete a change as the ablative approach. Remember, the face ages in two ways: by gravity (requiring surgery to place the anatomy back into position) and by exposure of the surface of the skin to life's elements such as sun, chemicals, acne, trauma, etc. Consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is the best way to find out which treatment is best for you. Sometimes both are needed!
