Waiting room etiquette
I don't mean to sound like Andy Rooney, but I have a real problem giving a good and complete consultation to my potential patients who are looking for advice and information when they show up with kids that need constant attention; or worse: "significant others" who also need constant attention or reassurance. There I said it! Poor sentence structure but I think you get the point. As an example I recently encountered a young patient interested in breast augmentation . As I was conducting a private medical history (as dictated by federal HIPPA rules) the lady's male companion was constantly calling her cell phone, irritated that he was not allowed to this portion of the consultation. The history taking is an office and not an exam room venue. Please come to the office ready to learn and not be disturbed. Bring a friend that is sympathetic to your very private concerns if you wish to have company.
